Q: How much compensation will I receive for time lost on the job?
A: This is based on variety of factors, including the details of your injury, marital status, weekly rage rate, tax filing status, number of dependents and more.

Q: Who is eligible to receive Workers' Compensation disability benefits?
A: A worker is considered disabled if they are unable to complete any work-related duty that was within your pre-injury credentials and training.

Q: How long do Workers' Compensation payments last?
A: Workers' Compensation payments could potentially last a lifetime, provided qualification criteria continues to be met.

Q: Am I required to accept a "light duty" occupation?
A: Someone receiving workers’ compensation payments can potentially lose benefits if a "light duty” job is turned down. To qualify as a "light duty" job, it must add significance to your department.

Q: Are Workers’ Compensation payments taxable?
A: Workers' Compensation payments are not subject to either federal or state income tax.

Q: Are there ever any adjustments made in the rate of payments I may receive?
A: In traditional situations, there are no increases or decreases in the monetary amount of payments received. There are a few circumstances, however, in which this could be possible.

Q: What medical services does Workers' Compensation cover if I am hurt on the job?
A: Workers' Compensation benefits will cover vital medical treatment for an illness or injury sustained on the job. This includes surgical, medical, hospital and nursing care. Under special circumstances, crutches, dental care, and artificial appliances such as eyes, limbs, eyeglasses, teeth, and hearing aids may be taken care of.

Q: If I continue to receive medical care after the first treatment, does Workers' Compensation benefits cover it?
A: Workers' Compensation must approve any payment for additional medical care for open and active illness or injury sustained while on the job.

Q: How do Workers' Compensation benefits synchronize with my vacation, sick, vacation and Family Medical Leave?
A: While Workers' Compensation benefits cover a portion of your normal weekly income, sick leave is required to be used to supplement your Workers' Compensation payments. At your will, personal and vacation leave may also be used to assist with your payments.  Family Medical Leave is not an added leave. Instead, it is used along with vacation leave, sick leave, Workers' Compensation or unpaid leave.
