Quadriplegics sustain loss of both motor and sensory functions in the impacted limbs.
Apart from the apparent signs of limb dysfunction, quadriplegics often suffer impairment in the torso, impacting bladder and bowel control, digestion, speech, breathing and sexual function. Secondary signs can include pressure sores (from being bedridden or from excessive sitting in a wheelchair), respiratory issues, broken bones, spastic jerking and cardiovascular disease.
