It affects skills such as movement, seeing, thinking, hearing and learning. It is caused by injuries or abnormalities to the brain of the newborn baby, and can occur anywhere from the development stages of the child in the womb or the first two years of life, a time where the child and the child’s brain are in a rapidly developmental stage. Premature infants are at a high risk to contract cerebral palsy, but can also be the result of several conditions related to the brain.
Cerebral palsy, although caused by the trauma or injury suffered to the brain by the newborn, can be the direct result of a doctors negligence, which can increase the risk of severe trauma to baby, leading to injuries that contribute to the condition of cerebral palsy. One cause for cerebral palsy is in the event a doctor or medical professional fails to use the proper equipment, resulting in an injury that led to cerebral palsy. In cases where a doctor’s negligence to use the right equipment results in such injuries, a medical malpractice lawsuit may be filed to receive compensation for both emotional and physical damages inflicted by the negligent professional.
