Recall of Salad Products Due to Salmonella Risk

A facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, Greencore USA, Inc., has issued a recall on roughly 57 pounds of salad products containing poultry and meat, due to the grape tomatoes utilized in these products that may be tainted with Salmonella, according to a recent development accounted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
All packages contain a label with the facility code "P38518" inside the USDA mark of inspection and the enjoy-by date. The products that have been recalled were produced on Sept. 26th, 2011 and Sept. 28th, 2011, and were distributed to retail stores throughout Ohio, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois. As of right now, the retail distribution list has not been made publically available yet.
The issue was found when Greencore USA, Inc. was alerted by Pearson Foods, its grape tomato supplier, that a certain lot of grape tomatoes was being recalled due to possible Salmonella infection. The grape tomato recall was announced by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Sept. 28, 2011. FSIS and the corporation are not aware of any sicknesses in relation with the recalled salad products.
