Local Law Firms Home > Product Liability Overview > Dangerous Drugs > X-Rock The Food and Drug Administration is encouraging men to refrain from taking X-Rock, a product that is being sold for “sexual enhancement.” X-Rock is an erectile dysfunction (ED) medication that contains sildenafil and hydroxythiohomosildenafil–two inactive ingredients that are undeclared. Sildenafil is an FDA-approved medication for erectile dysfunction, while hydroxythiohomosildenafil is an equivalent that is comparable, but not approved, and also still essentially unstudied. According to reports, the active ingredients were not present on the packaging–something that worried both the FDA and the manufacturer, because those active drugs may interfere with other drugs.
The product includes ingredients also such as sildenafil, a chief chemical component of the prescription erectile medication Viagra in addition to hydroxythiohomosildenafil, which has similarities to sildenafil. The labeling on the product, however, falsely claims that the product is completely “natural.” The specific medications that can lead to a fatal combination when taken with X-Rock include heart medications, such as nitroglycerin, which may result in blood pressure being lowered to deadly levels. Did you know? According to the label, ingredients allegedly contained in the product include horny goat weed, maca root, and gingeng root for a “herbal mix.” These have not been evaluated as effective or safe by the The Food and Drug Administration for erectile dysfunction; the label also leaves out the other ingredients. |
