Dangerous Drugs: Elidel Lawsuit

Elidel is a cream manufactured by Novartis and approved in 2001. It’s primary use is to treat eczema though it is often prescribed for psoriasis and dermatitis seborrhea. Though the drug is generally successful in it’s purpose, there have been reports of two very serious adverse side effects:

• Skin Cancer
• Lymphoma

Studies conducted by the FDA showed that test subjects that used Elidel developed cancer. The FDA had received over 78 reports of patients who had been diagnosed with skin cancer or lymphona after using the drug. These adverse side effects are only the beginning of a slew of sub-conditions that a patient can experience. Skin cancer is an extreme condition that encroaches on the skin’s ability to grow. Though the tumor grows directly on the skin and is easy to detect, it’s hazards include:

• Bleeding Sores
• Dry Sores
• Rough Patches on Skin
• Red Lumps
• Dry Skin

In the case of Lymphoma, it is a disease that starts in white blood cells called lymphocytes. The disease spreads to lymph nodes in the neck, groin and armpits. Side effects of Lymphoma are:

• High Fever
• Extreme Weightloss
• Poor Appetite
• Constant Exhaustion
• Itchines
• Dark Patches on Skin
• Redness

These diseases require constant treatment. Medications and even invasive surgery could be required and even then, neither of these conditions are curable. Nobody should have to experience these diseases, especially at the hands of a defective drug.
